Isabelle Rune
Lecturer for Ballett and Floor Barre
Isabelle was born in Sweden and began studying at the State Ballet School in Stockholm at the age of 10.
After graduating from high school with vocational training as a stage dancer, she was immediately offered a contract with the ballet company of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin (1997). During her seven years as a member of the ensemble, she danced many different roles in the major classical ballets, ranging from corps de ballet to demi-solo, as well as several leading roles in contemporary neoclassical productions. After her debut in the role of the Angel in Angelin Preljocaj’s creation “The Annunciation,” she decided to leave the classical opera house, which was then under the direction of Vladimir Malakov.
In 2005, she joined the Gothenburg Ballet Company with Kevin Irving.
In 2007, Isabelle returned to Germany’s capital and worked as a freelance dancer with many different choreographers across Europe.
In 2009, she met the Argentine tango dancer Santiago Herandez, who wanted her to be his dance partner in tango. After many successful performances and workshops together, the two decided to open their own tango school in Berlin.
In May 2011, she opened the doors of Tango Berlin. Today, her school enjoys a reputation as one of the most renowned tango schools in Berlin, offering very high-quality instruction. The school has over a hundred students.
At the same time, Isabelle completed her degree in social sciences at Humboldt University and earned a teaching certificate in the Vaganova method of classical ballet.
