Caroline Sobottka (Pilates)
Caroline studied professional dance in Leipzig, Berlin (Tanzakademie balance 1, 2005) and New York City. In NYC she intensively studied the Simonson Technique, created and developed by master teacher Lynn Simonson, an organic approach to the pedagogy of movement that prepares the body to dance in a way that is anatomically intelligent and somatically aware. It was only natural for her to turn to the Pilates method due to an injury in 2011, which follows a similar concept. In 2014 Caroline became a BASI® Pilates Comprehensive Teacher, pursuing continuing education including Pilates for special injuries and pathologies (Sam Wood) and Pilates for dancers (Karen Clippinger). In her work with young dancers she emphasizes teaching body awareness and anatomy as a tool to move intelligently, safely and therefore prevent injuries.
