The Contemporary Dance Academy is the professional school for aspiring dancers in Berlin
The Dance Academy offers a 3-year international Dance Program, a 5-month Dance Intensive Program as well as a 9-month Dance Pre-Education. The Dance Academy is Berlin’s professional school for devoted dancers who want to immerse themselves in the world of Contemporary Dance with a long tradition of promoting talent and creativity. Regardless of whether you decide to turn your fascination for dance into a profession or whether you are a passionate hobby dancer wishing to work on refining your pliés. The professional Dance Academy offers plenty of opportunities to develop and work your potential. Experienced dance teachers and a lively community of dedicated dancers will accompany you on your path.
Our 3-year international dance program is officially certified and approved by the Senate of Berlin since 1996.

Dance Program offers at the professional Academy in Germany
International Contemporary Dance Diploma Program
The 3-year international dance program for contemporary dance is designed for dancers, who plan to become a professional dance artist and work in the field of performing arts. The dance diploma program focuses on the development of dance technique such as ballet, contemporary dance, modern dance (Graham and Horton) and jazz dance. We work as well as on the development of your own personal artistic expression. The dance diploma is officially approved.
At the Academy you will be part of a demanding and at the same time family-oriented training structure.
Dancers have successfully been trained at the long established professional Dance Academy Balance 1 Berlin for over 25 years.
The new semester of the dance program starts yearly at the beginning of October.
If you can’t make it to one of our live auditions, we also accept your application as a video audition.

Dance Intensive Certificate Program
The 5-month Dance Intensive Certificate Program is tailored as a preparation for an educational program or for everyone dancing regularly in their free time wishing to deepen their technique and passion for dance in a supportive and encouraging environment.
This Intensive training program expands your fundamentals in a variety of dance styles, including ballet, contemporary dance, and jazz dance.
So, if you are looking for an exquisite program to expand your personal potential in a safe environment and are looking for the opportunity to train exclusively in a closed group, we would like to welcome you to our 5-month intensive certificate program.
There is no age limit for this program and you do not have to audition. However, you should have previous dance experience and feel physically fit enough to sustain the rigors of the program.
The training takes place in the afternoon from 4:45 p.m. and can therefore be attended if you are still obliged to attend school as well as after work. The Intensive takes place twice a year, starting at the beginning of february and at the beginning of september.

Dance Pre-Education
The 9-month Dance Pre-Education is a program designed exclusively for dancers who wish to prepare for auditions at professional dance academies.
It provides intense training in dance technique and performance skills.
If have you been dancing for some time already and would like to prepare yourself fundamentally for the entrance exams of the educational programs and are between 16 and 23 years old, then we invite you to apply for our Dance Pre-Education.
You need to have dance-experience to apply, and you have to pass an audition for this opportunity!
The training takes place in the mornings in the dance education classes. Therefore, you cannot attend it if you are still obliged to attend school. The yearly start is the beginning of october along with the dance education classes.
