Welcome to the Balance 1 Academy, your long-standing dance school and vocational conservatory in the south of Berlin. For over 30 years, we have been guiding passionate talents on their individual pathways toward a professional stage career.

The Balance 1 Academy is the professional dance school in Berlin for all aspiring and passionate dancers who want to turn their passion into a lifelong career as a stage performer through our state-approved vocational training program in Contemporary Dance.

Additionally, we offer young up-and-coming dancers our intensive, 5-month Dance Intensive program as an ideal foundation and preparatory course. This program focuses entirely on the practical immersion into classical and contemporary styles such as Contemporary Dance, Ballet, Modern Dance, and Jazz Dance.

As a local dance and ballet school, Balance 1 Academy also builds a bridge to the next generation: With professionally led dance classes and ballet courses, we introduce children from the age of 7 as well as teenagers to the fundamentals of classical ballet and the versatile world of contemporary and modern dance in an inspiring, age-appropriate environment.

Study Dance inside a Venue That Is a Work of Art Itself

Our home is the beautiful Villa Balance in Berlin Tempelhof-Schöneberg. Built in 1913 by the world-famous pioneer of modern architecture, Peter Behrens, the building breathes the majestic charm of European industrial heritage. Spanning three floors and five bright, column-free dance studios equipped with certified, joint-protecting sprung floors, historical spirit seamlessly blends with state-of-the-art dance training here. Subject to availability, our prestigious studios can also be rented for professional auditions, castings, corporate seminars, or creative workshops.

Dance Training Program - Diploma

The 3-year international dance program is designed for dancers, who plan to become a professional dancer and work in the field of performing arts.
This professional dance training program takes a broad approach, focusing both on developing dance technique—including contemporary dance, ballet, modern dance (such as Graham and Horton), and jazz dance—and on cultivating a highly personal form of artistic expression.
This dance education program seamlessly integrates advanced technical training with a comprehensive basic dance teacher training.
Balance 1 Academy has been successfully training contemporary dancers for 30 years and, as a vocational school, offers a recognized degree.
The new semester for the program begins annually in early October.
Applications are also accepted via video audition.

Dance training - international program

Dance Intensive Program Berlin with Certificate

The 5-month Dance Intensive program with a certificate in Berlin is designed to prepare students for professional training, but is also suitable for any dancer who wants to deepen their passion for dance in a supportive and encouraging environment. The program builds on the fundamentals of various dance styles, including ballet, contemporary dance, and jazz dance.
So if you’re looking for an exceptional dance program to develop your personal potential in a safe environment and are seeking the opportunity to train exclusively in a small group, we’d love to welcome you to our 5-month Dance Intensive Program.

There is no age restriction for this program, and you don’t have to audition. However, you should have some prior dance experience and feel physically fit enough to handle the demands of the program.
Training takes place in the afternoons starting at 4:45 p.m. and can therefore be attended after work.
If you’re still in school and can’t attend all training sessions, we’ll offer you a customized, reduced-scope program.
The Dance Certificate Program takes place twice a year, beginning in early February and early September.

Dance Intensive Program

Pre-professional dance training

For dancers aged 16 to 22 with prior experience who want to specifically prepare for auditions for dance training programs, we offer a 9-month pre-training program. To be admitted, you must participate in one of the audition dates for the training program. Training takes place in the mornings in the training classes. Therefore, you cannot participate in the preparatory program as long as you are still required to attend school. The program begins annually in early October, along with the training classes.

Kids Dance

Kids Ballet, Jazz Dance and Modern Dance 7-10 and 11-14 years old

Children are introduced to the basics of classical ballet in a fun way and/or have the opportunity to try out other dance styles.

Dance Teenager and Twens

Ballet Teenager and Twens, Jazz- and Modern Dance Teenager and Twens ages 15 and up

Small classes are designed to support teenagers who already have some experience, who wish to further deepen their knowledge alongside their general education, and who may even be considering a future career in theatre dance.
