Welcome to Villa Balance — a 1913 former industrialist's mansion in Berlin-Tempelhof that has been home to dance students from around the world since the 1980s. Across three floors and five light-flooded studios, the Balance 1 Academy has trained professional stage dancers since 1996 — recognized, hands-on, with close mentorship in small classes.

The Balance 1 Academy is a professional dance school and vocational conservatory in Berlin for all aspiring and passionate dancers who want to turn their passion into a lifelong career as a stage performer through our recognized vocational training program in Contemporary Dance. For dancers still finding their footing, our 5-month Dance Intensive program offers a practical foundation in Contemporary, Ballet, Modern, and Jazz Dance.

As a local dance and ballet school, Balance 1 Academy also builds a bridge to the next generation: dance classes for children from age 7 and teenagers, introducing them to classical ballet and the world of contemporary and modern dance.

🏛️ Dance Training Program – Diploma (3 Years)

Do you want to turn Contemporary Dance into your profession? Our recognized three-year full-time education program at our professional conservatory in Berlin prepares you intensively for the global dance scene. The curriculum combines rigorous training in Contemporary Dance, Modern Dance (Graham & Horton techniques), and Classical Ballet, focusing both on developing dance technique and on cultivating a highly personal form of artistic expression. With hands-on choreography practice and regular stage performances.

Dual Qualification: Integrated foundational training in Dance Pedagogy—securing your career alongside your performance path.
Academic Progression: Academic Progression: Comparable to 180 ECTS credits — many international M.A. programs in dance require a Bachelor of Arts or an equivalent recognized vocational qualification, and our graduates have been successfully admitted on this basis.
Visa Support & Emergency Housing: Qualifies for the German Student Visa.

🚀 Dance Intensive & Certificate Program (5 Months)

Our 5-month Dance Intensive Program in Berlin is the ideal preparation for subsequent professional training or a dedicated period of artistic growth. It’s open to anyone—no audition required—this program is designed for dancers with prior experience who want to deepen their skills in a supportive, close-knit environment.

Training takes place in late afternoons (starting at 4:45 PM), focusing on Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance, and Jazz Dance.

Flexible Start & Work-Friendly: Starts twice a year (February & September). The late afternoon schedule makes it ideal to combine with a job, studies, or part-time work. For school-aged participants, we offer tailored, reduced options.
Performance Lab & Studio Stage: Stage experience through the creation of your own final performance on our studio stage.
Villa Balance Campus: Enjoy daily training in our historic, light-flooded dance villa with professional sprung floors and in-house emergency accommodation.
